Volunteering Strategist

Andrew is the Volunteering Strategist with the NSW SES.

He joined the NSW SES in 2010 as a volunteer while studying at university and experienced the challenges of recruiting, training and retaining volunteers. In 2014 Andrew joined the NSW SES as a staff member as a region based Community Engagement Coordinator, and then in 2016 commenced work designing the Service’s flexible volunteering model. Andrew has been involved in the response to several major floods where spontaneous volunteers have played a key role including the 2016 Western NSW flood and the 2017 flood in the NSW Northern Rivers.

Andrew holds Bachelor degrees in Civil Engineering and Commerce, a Master’s degree in Disaster Management and is currently studying a Master’s degree in Public Relations.
